AEON 30th Anniversary Tree Planting Day

AEON 30th Anniversary Tree Planting Day was held on 29 April 2017. Participants comprised of 200 customers and staff members gathered in Tai Lam Country Park to support environmental protection and conservation of local ecological environment.

Taking the occasion of celebrating 30th Anniversary, AEON has planned a series of environmental initiatives to take actions together with customers. One of them is working on a two-year Country Park Plantation Enrichment Project with The Conservancy Association, which aims to enhance the biodiversity and ecological environment of plantation in Hong Kong through planting nativel tree species, followed by monitoring, caring and biodiversity surveys.

On the event day, a simple kick-off ceremony was held with officiating guests including Mr. Lai Chuen-chi, Assistant Director (Country and Marine Parks) of Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, Ms. Woo Kwok Ping, Lucy, Chairman of The Conservancy Association, Mr. Ken So, Chief Executive of The Conservancy Association, Mr. Hideaki Yajima and Mr. Masamitsu Ikuta, Deputy Managing Directors of AEON Stores (Hong Kong) Co., Limited.

After the ceremony, participants set off to the tree planting site located on a steep hillside. Adults or kids, every participants planted the tree seedlings carefully. A total of 450 tree seedlings of native species including Eurya chinensis, Gardenia jasminoides, Ilex rotunda var. microcarpa, were planted. It is hoped that the seedlings would grow into lush and healthy forest with fleshy fruits, bringing in more wild animals and insects, so that the biodiversity of country park plantation would be enriched.
