AEON Kumamoto Banpeiyu Festival Opening Ceremony

AEON Kumamoto Banpeiyu Festival Opening Ceremony was held on 22 January in AEON STYLE Kornhill, officiated by guests including Mr. Tatsuaki Nagahara, Deputy Mayor of Yatsushiro City, Mr. Itsuro Taira, Deputy Mayor of Hikawa Town and KUMAMON, the mascot of Kumamoto Prefecture, together with representatives of AEON Stores (Hong Hong) Co., Limited.

Brought with him 2000 banpeiyus, KUMAMON came to AEON to promote his hometown's signature fruit. Banpeiyu is the world's largest kind of citrus fruit and is famous for the excellent balanced flavour between sweet and sour, making it one of Kumamoto's most distinct food.

When KUMAMON appeared on stage, the audience welcomed him with screams of excitement and flashlights. After the banner cutting ceremony, KUMAMON put on a performance of his signature exercise dance. He also visited the sales area of banpeiyu and promoted the fruit to customers. Later on that day, KUMAMON held three fan meetings in different AEON stores to get in touch with his fans.
