WWF Coastal Watch 2015-16 - Site Action (2)

AEON is committed to supporting environmental conservation. Last year, we joined the Coastal Watch 2015-16 organised by World Wide Fund Hong Kong and carried out the first site action in October. On 27th February, AEON Coastal Watch Volunteer Team geared up again for the second site action.

Same as last time, the volunteer team arrived in Tai O and started to classfy the marine litter that was collected by fishermen earlier. The data will later be analysed and used to identify the sources of marine litter. Based on the survey result, WWFHK will discuss with the government or corporates to formulate policies to protect the ocean, so that our next generation will still have a chance to enjoy the beautiful and ecologically valuable coastal habitats in Hong Kong.

Before the end of the activity, the team scientists lead the participants for a short hike to Tiger Hill, a famous spot in Tai O for observing the Chinese White Dolphins. Through getting in touch with the natural environment, the participants have gained a better understanding on the issue of marine conservation and learnt to reflect on our own behaviours.
