AEON Stores Named by Asiamoney as Regional "Best-Managed Company"

(HONG KONG, 10 January 2005) -- General Merchandise Stores ("GMS") operator AEON Stores (Hong Kong) Co., Limited ("AEON Stores" or the "Group") (Stock code: 984) is pleased to announce that it has been named a "Regional Best-Managed Company" (small-cap) in Asiamoney's 13th Annual Best-Managed Companies Poll.

Asiamoney is a leading financial magazine covering the financial and corporate world in Asia. Companies were evaluated according to their performance in seven areas, namely corporate strategy, financial management, operational efficiency, investor relations, focus on shareholder value, annual reports and web sites. Leading fund-management firms, hedge funds and brokerages in the Asia-Pacific region were invited to cast their votes. The polls are recognised as the most prestigious and accurate measure of excellence for companies in the Asia-Pacific region (including Australia and Japan).
