AEON STORES TO CLOSE JUSCO TAI PO STORE REMAINS OPTIMISTIC ABOUT THE HONG KONG RETAIL MARKET AND WILL CONTINUE BUSINESS EXPANSION IN THE TERRITORY

(HONG KONG, 11 June 2010) – JUSCO Tai Po Store (“Tai Po Store”) operated by AEON Stores (Hong Kong) Co., Limited, (“AEON Stores” or the “Group”) (Stock code: 984) will close in July 2010. The General Merchandise Store (“GMS”) will remain open until 18 July 2010 while its supermarket will close on 11 July 2010. To thank customers for their support over the years, the Group will launch a clearance sale from mid June.

The Group decided to close the Tai Po Store as the leasing contract will expire in July and the landlord has other business plans ahead.

Mr. Lam Man Tin, Managing Director of AEON Stores, said, “We would like to express our gratitude to the customers, which include the residents of Tai Po, for their support of JUSCO Tai Po Store since 1995. We are encouraged by the positive market response towards our newly opened Kowloon Bay Store, which highlights the appeal of our GMS model among customers despite the closure of this store. In the future, we will continue to look for suitable locations to open new stores of different business models, and aim to bring our excellent products and services to even more customers.”
