AEON Stores (Hong Kong), AEON Credit Service (Asia) and Friends of the Earth (HK) Jointly Host the Tree Planting Event

AEON Group has been an active contributor to environmental protection, committed to mounting environmental protection activities worldwide. Since 1991, AEON Group has carried out greening and forestation activities around the world, protecting the environment and biodiversity, and promoting the importance of protecting forests. As of now (February this year), AEON has planted a total of 12.41 million trees on the planet.

To support "Country Parks Plantation Enrichment Programme", AEON Stores (Hong Kong) Co., Limited ("AEON Stores"), AEON Credit Service (Asia) Co., Ltd. (“AEON Credit Service”) and Friends of the Earth (HK) jointly hosted the "Tree Planting Challenge 2023". The objectives of the Programme included planting native saplings and performing post-planting maintenance in order to boost the ecological value of and biodiversity in country parks.

The tree planting event was successfully held at Tai Lam Country Park on 20 May. Mr. Kenichi OKADA, Consul General (Ambassador) of the Consulate General of Japan in Hong Kong was invited to attend the event and delivered a speech. Over 90 enthusiastic AEON employees, their children and volunteers together planted 400 native saplings, contributing to the greening of Hong Kong and conservation of the local ecological environment.

Mr. Takenori NAGASHIMA, Managing Director of AEON Stores (Hong Kong), said, "Environmental issue is a common challenge for humans, which also poses a threat to the health and diversity of species on the earth. I am very glad that AEON Stores, AEON Credit Service and Friends of the Earth (Hong Kong) jointly hold a tree planting event for the first time this year, which is a meaningful moment. It is expected that with the joint efforts of the three parties and more stakeholders, we could play a greater role in mitigating climate change and restoring the ecosystem."

On the day of the event, participants proceeded to the tree planting site after collecting the saplings and carefully planted them in the soil in designated zones, taking seriously the opportunity to plant trees with their own hands. Their wish was for the saplings to be able to thrive and become a forest, so as to pass on precious natural resources to the next generation.

In order to achieve the vision of "Create a future lifestyle that leads to a smile for each and every person", AEON will continue its tree planting efforts, contributing to society and creating a sustainable future for AEON people, customers and communities.
