AEON Volunteer Team: Devil's Peak Hillside Clean-up Activity

On 10th March, AEON volunteer team and Green Sense jointly organised Devil's Peak Hillside Clean-up Activity, starting from Yau Tong MTR Station and climbing up to Devil's Peak so as to contribute to the community, on the occasion of the first anniversary of the opening of AEON STYLE Yau Tong.

Having committed to making a contribution to the environment, AEON is dedicated to promoting environmental protection and sustainable development in the society through various means. AEON STYLE Yau Tong was grandly opened in March last year. To celebrate the first anniversary of the opening of AEON STYLE Yau Tong, a district cleanup activity was specially held in Yau Tong to protect the environment and connect the community.

Hiking has been an anti-epidemic fervour and was very popular among Hongkongers. It was also accompanied by hillside pollution and ecological environmental damage. AEON volunteer team had collected 9 bags of garbage in just a few hours of the activity. There were all kinds of garbage on the hillside and the peak,  among which paper towels, cigarette butts, and food packaging bags account for the majority, followed by beverage cartons, plastic bottles, fruit peels and etc.; some large nylon plastic bags and masks were also found. The issue is observed to be a serious one.

Through the activity, we hope to convey the messages of "Leaving no trace in the mountains" and "Treasure the nature" in order to raise the environmental awareness of participants. Also, we hope to practice waste reduction and recycling in daily life to protect the ecological environment.
