AEON Hong Kong and Daiso Japan Launch New Strategic Cooperation

AEON Stores (Hong Kong) Co., Limited (“AEON Hong Kong”) and Daiso Industries Co., Ltd. (“Daiso Japan”) have launched a new strategic cooperation after recently signing a long-term licensing contract, under which AEON Stores has been granted the rights to operate Daiso Japan specialty stores in Hong Kong.

Established in 1977, Daiso Japan provides a wide range of high-quality yet affordable products under its brand position "high quality, diversity and uniqueness". The quality of the merchandise is superb and the design is outstanding. Up to now, Daiso Japan has 3,620 stores in Japan and 2,272 stores in 24 other countries and regions.

Since AEON Hong Kong opened the first independent small specialty store "$10 Plaza" (now named "Living PLAZA by AEON") in 2002, it has been reviewing and strengthening its store opening and operation system, laying a solid foundation in this business market. The support of AEON Hong Kong together with more than 20 years of rich experience in operating small specialty stores are set to boost the development of the brand of Daiso Japan in Hong Kong, strengthen its features and promote the expansion of its store network.

Although the retail consumer market has been hit hard by the pandemic, the demand for consumer goods remains strong in the new consumption landscape. Amidst the downturn in the market and the fall in shop rents, AEON Hong Kong has seized the development opportunities, continuing to expand its small specialty store business and has achieved success in the past year. This new strategic cooperation should accelerate development of AEON Hong Kong’s specialty store business. With Daiso Japan’s unique product categories and clear positioning, as well as AEON Hong Kong’s consistent professional, cordial and customer-oriented services, this partnership will surely bring a pleasant and satisfying shopping experience to every customer.

Today (29 July)，a new Daiso Japan store is opened in Mikiki, San Po Kong, the fourth store opened this year. The store occupies an area of approximately 2,210 sq. ft. and offers more than 3,800 products, including more items directly imported from Japan, so as to meet the daily needs of different customers.
