AEON Hong Kong and Friends of the Earth (HK) jointly held Tree Planting Day

AEON Group is committed to protecting our environment and biodiversity and carries out greening and afforestation activities all over the world, widely publicizing the importance of protecting forests. As of today, AEON has planted more than 1.31 million trees in mainland China and Hong Kong, the accumulated number of trees planted over the world has reached 12.12 million.

As a platinum sponsor for “Tree Planting Challenge 2021” hosted by Friends of the Earth (HK), AEON staffs worked together to plant more than 500 tree saplings on 25 July.

AEON Hong Kong organized a number of employees to participate in the event. The planting site was located at the Yuen Tun Country Trail, Tai Lam Country Park. Mr.  Nagashima Takenori, the Director of Administration & Corporate Finance of AEON Hong Kong, said:”The world is facing the difficulties caused by the epidemic, many environmental activities have been put aside during the time. However, from the perspective of solving global environmental problems, such initiatives cannot be stopped. Therefore, AEON will not stop either. Through this tree planting activity, it certainly makes environmental contribution to Hong Kong and jointly contributes to environmental protection and biodiversity issues. On top of this, it is to welcome the opening of our AEON STYLE Mongkok store that will be opened in August, satisfying customers' pursuit of a quality life. AEON will continue to support tree planting activities and work with stakeholders hand in hand to create a sustainable and harmonic society."

In view of the epidemic situation, the opening ceremony of the event was cancelled. After the participants picked up the seedlings in the sapling area, they walked to the tree planting site and planted them in the soil at the designated tree planting location. It is hoped that the seedlings would grow into lush and healthy forest with fleshy fruits, bringing in more wild animals and insects, so that the biodiversity of country park plantation would be enriched.

In the future, AEON will continue to devote itself to afforestation, contribute to the region, and make unremitting efforts to build a sustainable society and improve people's quality of life.
