AEON Volunteer Day: Environment and Conservation Fund - Missing Link – Polyfoam Recycling Activity

On 23rd May, AEON volunteer team joined Missing Link- Polyfoam Recycling Scheme to experience polyfoam recycling works.

To begin with the activity, volunteers collected recyclable polyfoam, including fruit nets and fruit plates from Yeung Uk Road Market in Tsuen Wan. After on-site screening and sorting, the recyclable materials were being transported to the factory.

Before further treatment works, Missing Link representative explained the pollution problems of polyfoam to the environment and the difficulties which are confronted by the recyclers. Volunteers then helped for separating the materials which cannot be recycled from polyfoam fruit plates. This important step contributes to further processes of polyfoam cutting, melting and cooling and will finally transform to valuable and reusable materials.

The volunteers found the experience very meaningful. It does not merely help them to understand polyfoam recycling works, but also learn to reduce wastage along with environmental protection.
